Why Buy a Half Cow?

✅ Save Money – Get a better price than buying retail cuts.
✅ Use the Whole Animal – Reduce waste and enjoy premium cuts, bones, organs, and fat.
✅ Support Local Farmers – Your deposit helps cover the cost of raising and processing the beef.

How It Works

Reserving a half cow from Vernon Family Farm is simple, and we guide you through every step. Once you place your deposit—either through our website or at the farm store—you’ve secured your share of high-quality, locally raised beef. Because we raise our animals with care, we process only a limited number at a time, so early reservations are key.

After your reservation is confirmed, we’ll reach out to discuss your custom cut sheet. This is your chance to tailor the order to your preferences—whether you love thick-cut ribeyes, prefer more ground beef, or want to make the most of organ meats and bones for broth. If you're new to buying in bulk, don’t worry—we’ll walk you through the options to ensure you get exactly what works for your family.

Once processing is complete, your beef will be vacuum-sealed, USDA-certified, and frozen to preserve freshness. With proper storage in a deep freezer, your investment will last well over a year, providing you with delicious, farm-raised beef whenever you need it. Plan for about six cubic feet of freezer space—most small chest or upright freezers will do the job.

When your order is ready, we’ll notify you for pickup. The remaining balance is due at that time, and if you can pay in cash at the store, it’s much appreciated. By reserving in advance, you’re not just filling your freezer—you’re directly supporting our farm’s sustainability, helping us cover the upfront costs of raising and processing high-quality beef.

If we sell out of our own beef, we may source from other trusted local farms to ensure you still get the best quality meat.

Availability is always limited, so don’t wait—reserve your half beef today and enjoy the benefits of knowing exactly where your food comes from!
