PASTURED LIVESTOCK

Regenerative Farming in New Hampshire

WHOLE / HALF ANIMALS

Beef + Pork

We believe using the entire animal is the most responsible and respectful way of raising meat. If you’re interested in filling your freezer with our nonGMO, pastured, and grass-fed meats, reserve your whole or half animal

We regularly refresh our online store with meat boxes that give you more bang (bulk) for your buck. Check out our offerings on our online store. Please note, our online store has a select number of products but we offer a huge variety of groceries in the farm store.

MONTHLY

MEAT BOX SUBSCRIPTION

Our monthly meat box subscription is a sure way to make sure you eat local with a routine.

We understand how tricky it can be to break out of the typical grocery shopping routine which is why we came up with a monthly box of proteins that change each month and include a variety of bone-in and boneless cuts from our own proteins including but not limited to our nonGMO pasture-raised chicken, pork, lamb and grass-fed beef. There are no substitutions, however if you do not wish to have lamb included, we can do that.

Regenerative Farming

A holistic approach to agriculture, regenerative farming focuses on restoring and enhancing the health of the soil, biodiversity, and ecosystem as a whole. It emphasizes practices such as crop rotation, cover cropping, minimal tillage, and the integration of livestock to improve soil fertility, sequester carbon, and promote overall ecosystem resilience.

By nurturing the land and working with nature rather than against it, regenerative farming aims to create sustainable and productive food systems while also prioritizing animal welfare and environmental conservation.

PASTURED

LAMB / SHEEP

Our lambs are raised on pasture at VFF and fed a nonGMO grain. If you’re not already familiar, a lamb is a sheep that is less than one year old. Our lambs are rotated regularly on pasture. Rotational grazing is the practice of moving animals through pasture to improve soil, plant and animal health. At VFF our animals are moved from one portion of pasture to another so that land has time to rest after it has been grazed. When areas of pasture are given time to rest and regenerate, this allows for forage plants to recover and deepen their root system.

We continue to expand our flock of sheep year by year and build up our on farm breeding program.

We believe in nose to tail processing/eating. This is the philosophy of using every part of the animal in food preparation/selling with the mindset of letting nothing go to waste. We sell many lamb cuts including ground lamb, chops, steaks and roasts, in our year-round farm store, as well as lamb offal (organ meats) and bones.

SHEEPSKINS + COW HYDES

A nose-to-tail approach means that we are making use of all the parts of our animals, skins and hydes included. Our sheep and cows were raised with so much love and processed for their meat and skins/hydes. These products are available for purchase at the farm store and online, limited supply, available seasonally. They are a wonderful gift for any occasion with many uses like an addition to a couch back, seat cover, car seat cover, or a soft place for baby to lay.

GRASS-FED + GRASS-FINISHED

BEEF / COWS

VFF beef is available at the farm store. When our own beef is not available, we have a huge selection of other beef products available to purchase from other local farmers. Our cows are grass-fed and raised at Normanton Farm in Litchfield, NH.

During the summer months, our animals are out at pasture but during the winter months, our animals move up to their winter housing paddocks near the farm store. We invite our customers to the pasture and to the paddock for animal viewing but please remember there is no climbing or going into animal pens at the farm. Feeding animals is strictly prohibited and we do not allow dogs on the farm, this is for your animal and our animal's safety.

PASTURED

PORK / PIGS

Our pastured pigs flourish in a rich, forested habitat, where they roam freely and graze on both pasture and wooded areas through rotational grazing practices. This holistic approach ensures our pigs have access to diverse forage, promoting their health and natural behaviors. With ample space to explore and feed, our pigs thrive, resulting in meat that's not only delicious but also ethically and sustainably raised.

THANKSGIVING TURKEY

Thanks to Hurd Farm, we offer turkeys that are pasture-raised on green grass and sunshine, thriving on their 160 acres in Hampton, NH. Antibiotic and hormone-free, these birds are also slaughtered right on their farm. Farmers Steve and Jeremiah have a great friendship and working together is always a pleasure.

Each Thanksgiving, we offer their turkey fresh and ready to prep for your meal. Sometimes we also have their turkey available frozen at the farm store throughout the year.

GUARD LLAMAS

Our guard llamas play a crucial role in protecting the livestock. These gentle yet vigilant creatures, with their keen senses and natural instincts, serve as guardians against predators such as coyotes, foxes, and more. With their imposing stature and strong herd instincts, the llamas form a bond with the other animals, creating a sense of security within the herd. Their presence not only deters potential threats but also reduces stress among the livestock, promoting a harmonious environment. Under their watchful eye and thanks to their protective nature, the guard llamas contribute to the safety and well-being of the farm's inhabitants.

SPRING COMPOST

Our compost is well-aged, certified organic, and perfect for direct addition to any garden for filling a garden bed or top dressing. We have compost test results for customers to check out if interested. Please note: our compost is outside composted and may contain weed seeds.
